Kahlúa is a Mexican coffee liqueur brand. The liqueur consists of coffee , sugar cane and vanilla . Kahlúa has a moderate coffee taste and has been sold in the "original" version in Germany since 2004, as in all other countries except the US state of Ohio , with only 20% alcohol. In Ohio, the alcohol content is 21.5%. The caffeine content of Kahlúa is 100ppm, which roughly corresponds to the caffeine content of Coca-Cola . In 2005, the spirits manufacturer Pernod Ricard Kahlúa acquired in the course of the takeover of its competitor Allied Domecq.

It is used for many cocktails such as the White Russian , the Black Russian or the B-52 and is a standard part of many cocktail bars .
