As Kahn belly ( Engl. Boat-shaped abdomen or scaphoid abdomen ) is a sunken abdomen called. In relation to the abdominal wall , the bony structures of the chest and pelvis are then prominent. The cause can be a cramp of the abdominal muscles or simply a lack of filling of the abdominal cavity. This is typical as a symptom of long-standing meningitis , cholera or lead poisoning . In newborns , the symptom may indicate a congenital diaphragmatic hernia , in children with vomiting diarrhea , increasing dehydration .
