Kai Hiemstra

Kai Hiemstra (born December 10, 1938 in Berlin ; † December 8, 2015 ) was a German entrepreneur . In 1972 he founded the first German media agency HMS (Hiemstra Mediaberatung Service).

Life

Hiemstra studied economics in Mainz and Würzburg from 1958 to 1962. In 1963 he started as a trainee at the Hamburg advertising agency Lintas , where he worked until 1967 - most recently as a media planner . He then worked as media director at the advertising agency Doyle Dane Bernbach in Düsseldorf until 1970 . This was followed by a brief activity at the Frankfurt agency HK McCann , before he founded the first German media agency in Wiesbaden in 1972 with HMS Hiemstra Mediaberatung GmbH. Hiemstra headed HMS until 1993. From 1994 to 1999 he was CEO and Chairman of the HMS Carat Group and Executive Director of Aegis in London .

From 1996 Hiemstra was also on the board of the General Association of Advertising Agencies (GWA). Hiemstra was also instrumental in founding the organization media agencies in the GWA (OMG). For his service in the organization, Hiemstra was made the first honorary member of the OMG in September 2000.

Together with Helma Finkenauer-Linnerth, Ursula Hofmann and Hans-Georg Stolz, Hiemstra founded the consulting company CBC Communication Brainpool Consulting at the end of 2002. CBC was wound up three years later.

His son is Axel Hiemstra .

Kai Hiemstra died on December 8, 2015 at the age of 76.
