The Kaipokok River is a 44 km long river on the east of the Labrador Peninsula in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .

River course

The Kaipokok River arises at the confluence of its two headwaters, North Branch (51 km long) and South Branch (58 km long). It flows mainly in an east-northeast direction. It flows through the two lakes West Micmac Lake and East Micmac Lake , before entering the head of the elongated Kaipokok Bay , 20 km southwest of the settlement of Postville . The Kaipokok River drains an area of ​​2,499 km². In the north, the catchment area borders on that of the Kanairiktok River .

Fish fauna

In Kaipokok River are Atlantic salmon , brook trout , lake trout and Arctic stint before. There are two salmon migrations per year: the first takes place from mid-July to mid-August, the second in October.
