Kairi was a funeral doom band founded in 2002 and disbanded in 2012 .

history

Kairi Parker-Shikari founded Kairi in 2002 as a dark ambient solo project. After the first demo, Leon Protheroe joined as a singer. Since then, Kairi acted as a funeral doom duo until the band split up in 2012. Until then, Kairi had released several self- published demo recordings and two albums via Endless Depression Productions and Satanarsa Records .

The publications were mainly rated as poor in international reviews. Laurent Lignon wrote about Kairi for Doom-Metal.com that “it is better to save the money for the album, or to buy it to leave it to your worst enemy.” Jan Wischkowski judged My Light for Metal.de , My Flesh , that this is "almost over the entire length of the album a rather subterranean and very disharmonious mixture of funeral doom of the boring kind and dark ambient of the unusable kind". In a review written for the Italian webzine Aristocrazia, “Mourning” attested the group based on My Light, My Flesh, on the other hand, a depressive atmosphere and audible development potential.

style

Kairi plays the band description for Doom-Metal.com as “extremely depressive Funeral Doom with dark ambient influence.” In his review of the self-titled album, Lignon wrote that the band “simple Funeral Doom with extremely aggressive Black Metal guitars “Games. The guitar riffing is repetitive, the keyboard and synthesizer fill the room and the vocals are presented as a deep, unrecognizable, distorted growling .
