Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Jubilee-Tournament 1898
The Kaiser Franz Joseph Jubilee Tournament on September 18, 1898 was one of the first major football tournaments in Austria . The tournament was on the 50th Jubilee I. Emperor Franz Joseph held. A total of twelve different teams, mostly from Vienna , took part. Some of the former Viennese "large clubs" such as the Vienna , Vienna Cricket and Football Club or the Vienna AC took part in the tournament with several teams. The tournament became known because it was the first major tournament in Vienna. The venue was the Hohe Warte , Austria's early football center.
At the anniversary tournament, the twelve participating teams competed in the main and consolation competition according to the cup system. However, only six players per team played two halves of ten minutes each on one half of the playground. The winner was the Vienna Cricket and Football Club in front of the second team of First Vienna FC 1894 .
