The residential building at Kaiserstraße 48 in the Düsseldorf district of Pempelfort , originally the home of Albert Poensgen , was built before 1904 by the Max Wöhler architectural office , the Düsseldorf branch of the Berlin architects Heinrich Kayser and Karl von Großheim , in the historicist neo -baroque style. The house was the seat of Deutsche Drahtwalzwerke AG until 1937 and then the district leadership of the NSDAP .

description

The ground floor only comprised utility rooms. The entire upper floor could be set up for living rooms due to the overbuilding of the entrance. The hall with stairs connected the living rooms (on the street side) with the dining room (on the garden side):

“In the house at Kaiserstraße 48 by the architects Kayser & v. Grossheim, the ground floor on the ground floor (Fig. 604, 605, 607 and 608.) is used exclusively by the utility rooms. The entrance is built over on the mezzanine floor so that the entire front can be used for living spaces (Fig. 606). The hall (Fig. 609) with a staircase on the side connects the living rooms on the street front with the dining room on the garden side, the facade is in the Baroque style (Fig. 610). "

use

The house is listed in the Düsseldorf address book from 1937 as the seat of Deutsche Drahtwalzwerke, A.-G. with the directors Dr. Bachmann et al. C. Cyriax mentioned. The Düsseldorf wire industry played an important role in the economy: “Almost first place in German industry and far beyond that with the production of [...] steel pipes [...] In addition there are steelworks [...] and wire rolling mills, wire drawing mills [...] "
