The Kaiserwagen is an originally preserved train set of the Wuppertal suspension railway from 1900. It is used today as part of tourist excursions.

The name comes from the car with the no. 5 of the fact that Kaiser Wilhelm II. With his wife Auguste Viktoria in this car on 24 October 1900, the newly built and unique means of transport during a visit to the cities of Vohwinkel , Elberfeld and Barmen to sample drove.

Today excursions with coffee and cake or morning pint take place with the vehicle parallel to the normal regular service . The car can also be booked for parties or weddings .

As part of the "total Monument monorail" it is since May 26, 1997 under monument protection .

From the start of the new generation of vehicles , the Wuppertal suspension railway will be operated with the ETCS train control system. The Kaiserwagen will also receive ETCS vehicle equipment from the manufacturer Alstom Transport Germany so that it can continue to operate.
