Kaj Sigurd Ademar Arnö (born June 29, 1963 in Helsinki , Finland) is a Finnish-Swedish computer scientist, veteran of open source databases and former Vice President of the MySQL Community at MySQL AB , Sun Microsystems and Oracle Corporation . From 2005 onwards, Arnö was the main speaker of the MySQL community and a regular speaker at numerous MySQL events. He studied physics at Helsinki University of Technology .

Life

In 2001, Arnö joined MySQL AB, where Monty Widenius , whom he has known since his youth, developed the open source database system MySQL. MySQL AB was initially bought by Sun Microsystems . In June 2010, Oracle Corporation again bought Sun. In October 2010, Arnö left the company and joined SkySQL, which developed the MySQL fork MariaDB .

Arnö worked for MariaDB Corporation from 2011–2019 and for the MariaDB Foundation as CEO since 2019. He lives in Munich and has both Finnish and German citizenship.
