Kajiwara Kagetoki
Kajiwara Kagetoki ( Japanese 梶 原 景 時 ;? - February 6, 1200 ) was a Japanese general in the late Heian period .
Live and act
Kajiwara was from Sagami Province . He initially fought under Ōba Kagechika ( 大 庭 景 親 ; † 1182) on the side of the Taira clan . But when Minamoto no Yoritomo was defeated by the Taira in the battle of Ishibashiyama in 1181 and had to flee to the mountains together with Doi Sanehira (土肥 実 平;? –1191?), The persecuting Kajiwara let him escape. He changed sides and took part in the 1184 campaign of Yoshitsune , Yoritomo's brother, against Minamoto no Yoshinaka and the Taira, but later turned against him and thus intensified the dispute between the two brothers.
After Yoritomo's death in 1199, Kajiwara worked briefly as an advisor to the 2nd Shogun, Minamoto no Yoriie . When he slandered Yūki Tomomitsu , a prominent vassal, he felt the wrath of the leaders of the Kamakura shogunate and had to leave Kamakura. He then planned to go to Kyoto and Takeda Ariyoshi ( 武田 有 義 ; † 1200) to support as a Shogun. This plan was discovered, however, and Kajiwara and his son Kagesue lost their lives in the Battle of Suruga.
