Princess Kako of Akishino ( Japanese 佳 子 内 親王 Kako-naishinnō ; born December 29, 1994 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese princess of the imperial family and the second daughter of Prince Akishino and his wife Kiko . Princess Kako is the second granddaughter of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko and the sister of Mako as well as Prince Hisahito, who is second in line to the throne .

Life

From 2001 to 2007, Princess Kako attended the Gakushūin private school (Japanese 学習 院 初等 科 Gakushūin Shotōka ) of the Gakushūin University , which was originally founded to educate the Japanese nobility , and then went on to attend secondary Gakushūin schools (from 2007 to 2010 the Gakushūin- Girls 'Middle School ( 学習 院 女子 中等 科 Gakushūin Joshi-chūtōka ) and from 2010 to 2013 the Gakushūin Girls' High School ( 学習 院 女子 高等 科 Gakushūin Joshi-kōtōka )). In April 2005 she took first place out of eight candidates in a figure skating competition in the category “elementary school students in 4th grade and above”; in 2007 she also performed in the category “elementary school students in 6th grade and higher”.

From 2013 she studied pedagogy at the literary science faculty of Gakushūin University and moved to the International Christian University ( 国際 基督教 大学Kokusai Kirisuto-kyō Daigaku ) in 2014 and there in 2015 to its humanities faculty. She graduated there in March 2019.

In July 2015 she made her first official appearance as a member of the imperial family.

From September 2017 to July 2018, like her older sister Mako, she completed a semester abroad in England. Kako studied Psychology and Performing Arts at the University of Leeds .
