Kalach Island ( Russian Остров Калач Ostrow Kalatsch , German 'Kolatschinsel' ) is an island off the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is located in the area of the Bunger Oasis .
Soviet scientists mapped them in 1956 and named them descriptively after their resemblance to a kolatsch , a cake. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated the name into English.
