Kalafina was a Japanese band founded in 2007 by composer Yuki Kajiura and owned by the Sacra Music record label (a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan ). She was mainly known for the theme music of the film series for the novel series Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners . She received greater attention, also outside of Japan, for her songs for the popular anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate / Zero . Their music can be assigned to the genre of J-Pop and is characterized by polyphonic interpretation.

- Wakana Ootaki ( Japanese 大 滝 若 菜 , * December 10, 1984), she is part of the FictionJunction project and is referred to there as FictionJunction WAKANA . She has been active as a solo artist since August 2018 and released her first solo album in March 2019.
- Keiko Kubota ( Japanese 窪 田啓子 , * December 5, 1985), she is also a member of FictionJunction and is referred to there as FictionJunction KEIKO .
- Hikaru Masai ( Japanese 政 井 光 , * July 2, 1987)

founding
The band was founded in 2007, but did not announce their debut until January 2008. At the time, only Yuki Kajiura was confirmed as a member. At the Dream Port 2008 on April 29, 2008, the names of two other members, Wakana Ōtaki and Keiko Kubota, from the FictionJunction project , also initiated by Yuki Kajiura , became known. In May 2008, two more singers joined the band: Maya and Hikaru, who were selected from a competition of 30,000 participants organized by SME Japan .
resolution
On February 21, 2018, the band's longtime composer, Yuki Kajiura , announced that she was leaving her agency Space Craft Produce and thus the band. As a result, rumors arose that the group would split up without their composer in spring 2018. However, the agency responsible announced in March 2018 that one member would like to leave the band and that the other two members will continue to work for the agency. On April 13, 2018, Keiko Kubota posted a message on the Kalafina Lineblog in which she announced that she had left the band on April 1, 2018. As she announced by message at the beginning of November 2018, Hikaru Masai also left the band on October 20, 2018. Finally, on March 13, 2019, the Space Craft Produce Agency officially announced that Kalafina was dissolved despite intensive efforts for a new collaboration.

The remix mini-album contained six tracks that were already known from the film series, but were remixed again. The album was not very successful compared to the singles and reached 37th place on the album charts with 10,076 copies sold.

Named after the theme song of the seventh chapter Satsujin Kōsatsu (Ato) by Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners , the album should contain 14 tracks, several of which have already become known from the albums for the film.
