Coordinates: 31 ° 58 ′ S , 116 ° 3 ′ E The Shire of Kalamunda is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . Kalamunda belongs to the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 324 km² and has about 57,500 inhabitants (2016).
Kalamunda is located on the western edge of the urban area of Perth about 13 to 30 km east of the city center. The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the Kalamunda district, where around 7,000 people live (2016).

The Kalamunda Council has twelve members. They are elected by the residents of the four wards (three each from the South East, South West, North and North West Ward). The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
