Kalau is a small uninhabited island in the Tongan archipelago of Vavaʻu .

geography

Kalau is one of the westernmost islands in the Vavaʻu archipelago. It forms the extension of the island Hunga to the south, where it forms a small lagoon with the sister island Fofoa , in which the islands Valetoamamaha and Valetoakakau are located. Kalau closes the lagoon to the open sea to the west.

climate

The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Vava'u group, Kalau is occasionally hit by cyclones .
