geography

Fofoa is one of the westernmost islands in the Vavaʻu archipelago. It is located on the western edge of the atoll, in the extension of the island of Hunga and together with it forms its own group of islands and a small lagoon in which the "little sisters" Valetoamamaha and Valetoakakau are located. Kalau forms the transition between Fofoa and Hunga on the western edge. The Ava Pulepulekai Canal runs in the south and leads far into the center of the archipelago and into the center of the main island. In the south there is a reef, which soon ends in the islands of Foelifuka and Foeata .

climate

The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Vavaʻu group, Fofoa is occasionally hit by cyclones .
