Kalininkai ( German  Kallningken ) is a place in the Lithuanian district of Klaipėda (Memel) and belongs to the administrative district Šilutė (Heydekrug) in the district municipality of Šilutė .

Geographical location

Kalininkai lies on a side road that connects the town of Šilutė ( Heydekrug , 7 km) via Grabupiai ( large grave groups , 3 km) with Gardamas (11 km). The next train station is Šilutė on the railway line Sowetsk – Klaipėda (Tilsit – Memel), which has been out of service until further notice .

history

The small once Chatoul Stassel , until 1905 with the addition “ Ksp. Werden ”and then just called Kallningken , consisted of small scattered farms before 1945. The place belonged to the circle Heydekrug in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 170 inhabitants were registered here. Located between 1923 and 1939 in the Memelland occupied by Lithuania , Kallningken was incorporated into the Trakseden district on March 21, 1939 (now in Lithuanian: Traksėdžiai), which existed until 1945 and was again part of the Heydekrug district. Only a few weeks later, namely on May 1, 1939, Kallningken lost its independence and was merged with Groß Grabuppen (today Lithuanian: Grabupiai) to form the new rural community Heidewald. Today the place called "Kalininkai" is located in the Lithuanian district of Klaipėda and belongs to the administrative district of Šilutė in the district of the same name .

The predominantly Protestant population of Kallningken was parish until 1945 in the parish of Werden Church (the place is called in Lithuanian: Verdainė ). It belonged to the church district Heydekrug and from 1923 to 1939 was subject to the special administration of the Memel area of the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Kalininkai is in the catchment area of ​​the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Šilutė in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lithuania .
