Kalkrieser Berg

The Kalkrieser Berg (also called Schmittenhöhe ) is a 157  m high elevation northwest of Ostercappeln as part of the Wiehengebirge . In the north there is the Great Moor at an altitude of about 47  m above sea level. NHN , the Mittelland Canal built in the early 20th century and the Bramsch district of Kalkriese .

Between the mountain and the moor, fights probably took place during the Varus Battle between Romans and Teutons. The relics found in the Kalkriese region are exhibited and explained in the Kalkriese Museum and Park .
