The Kalksinter Quellflur is an extensive natural monument and geotope in the area of the Baden-Württemberg community of Sulz am Neckar in the Rottweil district .

Characteristics

The natural monument was designated by ordinance of October 13, 1982.

Location and description

On the lower valley slope of the Glatt around one kilometer west of the village of the same name, mighty, now largely dismantled tufa limestone heels have formed. The several meters thick tufa cover has smaller, cushion-shaped hills and protrusions over which the calcareous spring water runs and trickles. In the process, more lime is constantly excreted, which solidifies over knots, leaves and moss and constantly creates new tufa (recent formation of tufa). The calcareous water comes from the karstified Lower Muschelkalk and emerges as a layer spring above a damming layer. Particularly noticeable is a small stream, which has created a narrow dam through lime deposits, on whose deep dam crest it runs.

The Kalksinter-Quellflur is also protected as a geotope under the name Kalksinter Quellflur, Sulz am Neckar-Glatt .
