Lime cement plaster

Lime cement plaster is a mortar for plastering building surfaces inside and outside, which is named after its binding agents calcium hydroxide in powder form (or other building lime ) and cement . Its aggregate consists of sand. Lime cement plasters belong to mortar group P II according to DIN 18550 .

Lime cement plaster is usually purely mineral and diffusion-open , i.e. slightly permeable to water vapor and weakly absorbent. Due to the cement content, it has higher compressive strength and abrasion resistance than lime plaster , which makes it suitable as a substrate for ceramic tiles . The alkaline calcium content makes it water-repellent and resistant to mold and algae.

For these reasons, cement-lime plaster, in contrast to the smoother, but slightly softening gypsum plaster, is suitable for damp rooms and other stressed indoor surfaces. Often the material is chosen as a sub-plaster for a finishing plaster from the softer and more pleasant lime plaster for the room climate. Lime cement plaster serves as rain protection on the outer walls.

Lime cement plasters are often used on heat-insulating wall building materials as lightweight plasters with organic additives such as polystyrene or mineral ones such as expanded glass or perlite . This means that they are themselves heat-insulating.
