Kalle Kanttila

Kalle Kanttila (born November 10, 1976 in Oulu ) is a Finnish tenor.

Life

Kanttila began his singing studies at the Helsinki Conservatory and continued it at the Music Universities in Zurich and Karlsruhe.

He made his debut in 2003 as Don José in "Carmen" at the Weikersheim Music Festival. He then sang Rinuccio in “Gianni Schicchi” in Maastricht and in 2005 Alfredo in “La Traviata” at the Wernigeroder Schlossfestspiele.

Further guest contracts took him to the Nationaltheater Mannheim , Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe , Wuppertaler Bühnen , Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden , Staatstheater Darmstadt , Alexander-Theater Helsinki, Weikersheim, Nilsiä and to the Schwetzingen Festival as well as the renowned Savonlinna Opera Festival, where he a. a. Matteo (Arabella), Cassio (Otello), Pinkerton (Madam Butterfly), Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos), Lenski (Eugen Onegin), Don José (Carmen), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Victorin (The Dead City), Tassilo ( Countess Mariza) or Paganini (Paganini) sang.

From 2005 to 2008 Kanttila was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Regensburg Theater , and from 2008 to 2011 at the State Theater in Nuremberg .

Kanttila has received multiple scholarships from the Finnish Ministry of Culture and, in 2005, Bayreuth scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association . The TV channel Arte and Finnish television produced a documentary "Winterreise" about Kalle Kanttila in 2007.

In the 2011/2012 season the young tenor a. a. sing the role of Manricos from "Il Trovatore" in his home country Finland. In addition, the guest performances lead him u. a. to the Komische Oper Berlin and the Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
