Kalles caviar
Kalles Kaviar is a spread of smoked roe of cod and pollock , that of Abba Seafood in Sweden is produced. Sugar, salt, potato flakes, tomato concentrate, vegetable oil and, depending on the variation, other ingredients are added to the fish roe. The paste is offered in tubes .
history
In 1950, Gunnar Stensby, the factory manager of Abba AB, Abba Seafood's predecessor, bought the recipe for a caviar paste from a peddler . According to the company's history, he should have paid 1000 crowns for it. The product Kalles Kaviar , based on this recipe, was introduced four years later, in 1954. After product tests found that the spread primarily appeals to children, the marketing department decided to print the picture of a little boy with blond hair and blue eyes as a trademark on the packaging and chose the then popular boy's name Kalle as the product name . The six-year-old son of the company boss, Carl Ameln, was chosen as the model. The product design has not changed since then. Abba already sold over a million tubes in the first year; in 2005 around 2,600 tons of Kalles caviar were sold.
In 1975 Abba began to develop further formulations. Another container was also tested, but not accepted by customers. Since then, Kalles caviar has only been available in tubes.
Kalles caviar has been produced under the MSC seal for sustainable fishing since 2013 .
In 2015, Kalles Kaviar will be offered in seven different variations.

Carl Ameln, whose face is depicted on the tubes, enjoys a lifelong, free purchase right to Kalles caviar and is served by Abba Seafood with home delivery.
