Kallidaikurichi ( Tamil : கல்லிடைக்குறிச்சி Kalliṭaikkuṟicci [ ˈkalːɨɖɛiˌkːuritʃi ]; Kalladaikurichi in the Indian census) is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . The population is around 26,000 (2011 census).

location

Kallidaikurichi is located in the Tirunelveli district in southern Tamil Nadu, around 40 kilometers west of the district capital Tirunelveli . The city is located on the south bank of the Thamirabarani River at an altitude of approx. 75 m above sea level. d. On the other side of the river, about four kilometers away, is the town of Ambasamudram . Administratively, Kallidaikurichi belongs to the Taluk Ambasamudram in the Tirunelveli district.

According to the 2011 Indian census, Kallidaikurichi has 26,398 inhabitants. 82 percent of the population are Hindus , there are also minorities of Muslims (13 percent) and Christians (4 percent). As in all of Tamil Nadu, the main language is Tamil, which is spoken by almost 100 percent of the population as their mother tongue.

  • There are several Hindu temples in the village, the history of which goes back to the Middle Ages; However, they have been rebuilt and changed repeatedly - the most important is dedicated to Perumal (= Vishnu ).
