Kalpana (Malayalam actress)

Kalpana ( Malayalam കൽപ്പന , full name Kalpana Ranjani ; born October 5, 1965 in Chavara , Kerala , † January 25, 2016 in Hyderabad , Telangana ) was an Indian actress of the Malayalam film . She also starred in some films from other South Indian film industries, particularly Tamil film .

Life

Kalpana was born the daughter of theater actors VP Nair and Vijayalakshmi in Chavara village in Kollam district. The actresses Kalaranjini and Urvashi are her sisters. She married film director Anil Kumar in 1998 and divorced from him in 2012. A daughter emerged from the connection.

Kalpana began her film career in 1977 as a child actress in P. Subramanyam's Vidarunna Mottukal and appeared in 1981 with her parents in G. Aravindan's Pokkuveyil . She was best known for her humorous roles, although she had actually entered the film business with the intention of acting as the leading actress. At the 60th National Film Awards in 2012, she won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the Malayalam film Thanichalla Njan . She played alongside KPAC Lalitha, a generous Muslim woman who takes in a hapless Hindu woman and naturally respects her religious sensitivities.

Kalpana died of a heart attack in Hyderabad , where she was filming a Telugu film .
