Kalvarienberg (Bad Laer)

The Calvary is a 90 m above mean sea level high mountain in Hardensetten , a district of Bad Laer . The Hardensettener Kreuzweg is laid out on it.

The Kalvarienberg is located on Glandorfer Straße, which leads from Bad Laer to Glandorf . It is easily recognizable in Bad Laer in the district of Hardensetten by a linden tree, the so-called Prediger-Linde , which stands on the southern roadside.

history

According to tradition, there was a pagan court and cult site on the Hardensetten Calvary. According to tradition, Iroschottic monks built a chapel at this historic site. This chapel was destroyed and rebuilt several times - and finally demolished in 1802 as an "annoying traffic obstacle". In 1857 the Hardensettener Kreuzweg was inaugurated there.
