The musical Lichterloh is the third musical by the composer Jochen Frank Schmidt (music and text). The world premiere took place on September 29, 2007 in the Gloria Theater (Bad Säckingen) . In 2012 the musical "Lichterloh" was performed in a new version in Bad Säckingen in the Gloria Theater.

action

Lichterloh is a fantasy story in which a street lamp can speak and transform itself into a person. The street lamp Paul wants to become a person to confess his love to the girl who waits under him every day for the bus. After learning about the possibility of being transformed into a person, he embarks on a turbulent journey.

music

The musical is composed of songs and dances by Jochen Frank Schmidt. Titles such as “We are light” or “Paul, the lantern” as well as “Hello world” and “Eine Tag Mensch” or “Be my light” show the direction of the ballads. The title song is "Love, Lamp Passion".

Artistic team for the premiere

The music, text and direction of the musical are by Jochen Frank Schmidt, the production and sound by Alexander Dieterle and the choreography by Vanessa Vario. The costumes were designed by Katrin Ebel, the stage director was Florian Ebel, the make-up was directed by Ruth Nowak. Jörg Peters was responsible for the lighting design.

Cast of the premiere

The two main roles played as Paul, the lantern: Markus Oschwald and as Claire, the girl at the bus stop: Jennifer Nowack. The other roles were filled with Eddie, the second lantern, by David Gasser, Luminum, the mysterious voice, with Johannes Hog, Dietmar, the road worker, by Sven Demuth, Mary, the headlight 1, by Andrea Konstanze Langer, and Betty, the Headlight 2, by Sabine de Wall. Thomas, the road worker apprentice, was played by Ruben Moratz and Leonie, the bedside lamp, was played by Jenna Keller. Marlene, the old spotlight, was occupied by Stephanie Weissenberger and Rita, the defective street lamp, with Martina Jermann and Fridolin, the old street lamp, with Boris Gerchow.

The live band consisted of Christian Mirbach ( piano ), Benedikt Weiger ( bass ), Frank Pohl ( saxophone ), Simon Altmeier ( trumpet ), Tobias Ganthert ( guitar ), Philipp Rau ( trombone ), Fabian Kläsener ( violin ), Juliane Kläsener ( Cello ).

Trivia

The musical was presented on November 4, 2012 in the program Landesschau - KulTour of SWR television . On December 14, 2012, the composer Jochen Frank Schmidt was invited to the SWR-Landesschau and reported on the musical "Lichterloh". There is a CD of the musical from 2012.
