The Kalvarienberg in Frauenkirchen , a town in the Neusiedl am See district ( Burgenland ), is located southeast of the Frauenkirchen basilica .

The crucifixion group from 1759 stands on a plateau in the middle, to which a spiral path leads up. In the small chapels along the way, the stations of Jesus' suffering are depicted in stone reliefs.

The Kalvarienberg is a listed building and is one of the most important baroque monuments in Austria. Together with the Basilica of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, it is a popular pilgrimage destination .

Two years after the destruction of Frauenkirchen by the Turks, Paul Esterházy had the Calvary built in 1685. The prince also had the Basilica of the Birth of the Virgin built between 1695 and 1702.

From 2009 to 2012 the Kalvarienberg was restored in coordination with the Federal Monuments Office , the cultural department of Burgenland and the city of Frauenkirchen. The cost of the renovation was around € 500,000.
