Kamareddy is a city in the Indian state of Telangana .

The city is the capital of the Kamareddi district . Kamareddi has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 5 wards . It had 80,315 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census , of which 39,660 were men and 40,655 women . The literacy rate in 2011 was 79.4%, below the national average for cities. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of around 71%. Muslims form a minority with a share of around 28%.
