Camel Ajlouni ( Arabic كامل محمد صالح العجلوني, DMG Kāmil Muḥammad Ṣāliḥ al-ʿAǧlūnī ; * March 1, 1943 in Sarih ) is a Jordanian endocrinologist and politician .

Life

Ajlouni received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Heidelberg in 1968 and became Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Jordan in 1985 . He is president of the National Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Genetics (English short. National Center for Diabetes ) in Jordan and founding president of the Jordanian University of Science and Technology (Jordan University of Science and Technology, abbreviated JUST.). More than 140 of his works have been published in scientific journals.

He was Minister of Health (1984–1985) and Senator from Jordan.

Ajlouni was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).
