Kammann barracks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kammann barracks in Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria existed between 1867 and 1919. The main building was at Bräunlichgasse 1, the branch at Bräunlichgasse 4 and 6.

history

The barracks were created by adapting farm buildings from a former large-scale truck company owned by the Kammann family. The former coach houses and stables had lost their function when the railway was built and were empty. In the years 1851 and 1852 the wagon entrepreneur Franz Kammann bought the area. In 1855 his wife Josefa became half the co-owner and on October 15, 1878 sole owner. With a contract dated August 21, 1881, Franz Kammann , an adopted son and later mayor of Wiener Neustadt, became the sole owner. Franz Kammann, in turn, handed over half of the property to Pauline Kammann on October 12, 1889. On March 14, 1914, Wiener Neustadt became the owner of the barracks through a purchase agreement . The end of the First World War brought the end of the Kammann barracks, followed by civil use, mainly for residential purposes. From 1950 onwards there was a municipal college for women's clothing makers in the north wing.

In the summer of 2017, the HLM and BAfEP Wiener Neustadt moved from the Kammann barracks to the former institution for the deaf and dumb / state vocational school.

Military uses
