Ventricular flutter is the rapid result of relatively regular ventricular actions (a high-frequency ventricular tachycardia ) with a heart rate of 200 to 350 / min. Structures outside of the sinus node trigger disturbances of the regression of excitation (heterotopic). The transition to ventricular fibrillation is fluid. Ventricular flutter is a medical emergency .

therapy

In patients with a palpable pulse and without loss of consciousness, ventricular flutter is treated by intravenous medication with amiodarone (evidence-based) or, if amiodarone is not available, lidocaine (no evidence).
