Remnant of the Chamber of Avenind II

The Avening Chambers are northwest of Avening , southeast of Nailsworth in Gloucestershire , England .

Three megalithic chambers were removed from a nearby long mound by Reverend N. Thornbury in 1806 and rebuilt in the garden of Avening Rectory. It is believed that they came from the long mound of Avening Court. For Britain they are very rare because they have soul hole entrances.

Two of the three chambers can be seen on the wooded hill of Avening between Avening Road and the river. The southern one can be recognized by its capstone that lies flat on other stones. At least two stones of the second chamber can be seen on the left, which also have a capstone.
