Kamus Dewan

The Kamus Dewan ( mal. For dictionary of the institute ) is a dictionary of the Malay language published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka . It is the best-selling dictionary in Malaysia .

The dictionary is also suitable for studying Malaysian literature, as it contains extensive suggested synonyms and abbreviations.

In Singapore, it is also admitted to language exams in the Malaysian language, which are held as part of the General Certificate of Education for levels 'N', 'O' and 'A'.

As of 2005, the dictionary was in its fourth edition. The first edition was launched in 1970, the second edition in 1984, the third edition in 1994 and the fourth edition in 1998. Of the four editions, the third edition was the most successful with more than 36,000 entries and 1566 pages. The fourth edition contains 49,000 entries on 1,817 pages.
