Kanal D is a Romanian private television broadcaster .

history

The station was founded by the Turkish media company Dogan Media International and the Swiss media company Ringier with the aim of offering “a modern TV entertainment program”. Dogan Media International, whose mother Doğan Yayın Holding already owned the Turkish channel of the same name, Kanal D , held 74.9 percent and Ringier 25.1 percent of the shares. The new transmitter started broadcasting on February 18, 2007 in Romania. In 2012 Ringier sold its shares in Dogan Media International.

Since the start, Kanal D has continuously expanded its market share. In 2017, with an average of 384,000 daily viewers, Kanal D was third in viewer favor in Romania behind Pro TV and Antena 1 .

Kanal D broadcasts many Turkish series as well as programs developed for the Romanian market such as Bravo, ai stil! , Asta-i România , WOWBiz , Te vreau lângă mine and the Teo Show as well as the adoption of internationally known formats such as Vrei să fii milionar? ( Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? ) And Roata norocului ( Wheel of Fortune ). The tabloid-heavy news is broadcast daily at 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
