Kandia Kouyaté (* 1958 in Kita , West Mali ) is a Malian Jelimuso (singer, female griot ).

Life

Kouyaté's career began in the early 1980s when she began studying female choir singing. Mory Kanté and Salif Keïta took up this implementation idea later and it became an integral part of Malian music. The title of her debut solo album is Kita Kan .

She was awarded the prestigious title of Ngara and is sometimes called La Dangereuse (The Dangerous One). The singer is known for her love songs, which make up the majority of the Kouyaté repertoire. She also sings praises.
