Hitomi Kanehara

Hitomi Kanehara ( Japanese 金 原 ひ と み , Kanehara Hitomi ; born August 8, 1983 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese writer . She made her first attempts at writing in her early teens. She was supported by her father Kanehara Mizuhito, who is a translator of children's and youth literature and a literature professor at the University of Tokyo . She lives in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo .

Life

For her first novel Hebi ni piasu ( Tokyo Love ), Kanehara received the 2003 Subaru Prize and the Akutagawa Prize . She was 20 years old at the time of the award, making her the second youngest recipient to date, after Wataya Risa , with whom she shared the latter award and who was 19 years old at the time of the award ceremony. Tokyo Love was made into a film by Yukio Ninagawa in 2008 .

In 2007 she took on a role as a voice actress in the anime film version Kafka Inakaisha (カ フ カ 田 舎 医 者). Kanahara's literary works Tokyo Love and the short story Ertofikushon ( Obsession ) published in 2006 have been published in German by Ullstein Verlag in a translation by Sabine Mangold.

In December 2010 Kanehara Hitomi received for her novel Trip Trap , endowed with a prize of one million yen Odasaku-nosuke Prize of the Osaka-Literature Institute and in 2012 the equally endowed with one million yen Bunkamura Prix des Deux Magots for Mothers .
