The Kanin Point ( English for rabbits headland is) a rocky headland on the north coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . On the south bank of Husvik Harbor , it forms the western boundary of Alert Cove 3 km west-southwest of Kelp Point .
The designation as Rocky Point , made by participants in the Discovery Investigations in 1928, was discarded because this headland was known under the name listed here in the Husvik whaling station . The background to this name is apparently several attempts from 1872 to settle rabbits in South Georgia.
