The Kantar Group is a group of market research companies under the umbrella of Bain Capital . The London-based company has 28,000 employees who together form the world's second largest market research company, which is represented in 95 countries worldwide.
history
Kantar was founded in 1993 by the WPP Group as a collection company for their market research companies. The name was chosen based on the former weight measure Kantar in the Mediterranean area . In April 2019, all WPP market research companies, including Kantar TNS , were incorporated into the umbrella company Kantar. In July 2019, WPP sold 60% of the shares in Kantar to Bain Capital.
