The River Shiel ( Scottish Gaelic Abhainn Seile ) is a river in the Scottish Highlands. It is in the Highland Council Area . The River Shiel drains Loch Shiel . The river leaves Loch Shiel near the village of Acharacle and flows four kilometers over rapids into the bay of Loch Moidart .
Trout and salmon can be caught in the River Shiel . The river is also used for rafting trips. The paths near the shore are popular with hikers.
