Edge cube

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The edge cube is a common figure in heraldry and, as a heraldic figure, a special form of the heraldic diamond .

A square on its tip is shown . The tinging is usually uniform for all edge cubes in a coat of arms. This figure is used, for example, individually, in the two-one position, or, and this is important, with a sufficient number touching the corners as an edge cube bar or edge cube post . The latter two heraldic pictures are also only described with cube bars or cube stakes and usually consist of at least five squares.

A special case: In the case of the straight edge cube post, the straight position of the individual elements distinguishes between right and left edge cube posts, depending on the beginning at the upper edge of the shield .

If the beam and the post cross, a cube-shaped cross is created. The cross also consists of at least five and a maximum of nine edge cubes, four or eight form the cross arms and one the cross body. In the coat of arms of the city of Döttesfeld there are four edge cubes in a curved blue tip 1: 2: 1. Also Eisenach (Eifel) has an edge cubes in the crest.
