geography

location
Eisenach is located 21 kilometers from Trier and 16 kilometers from Bitburg in the Bitburger Gutland, a multi- layer landscape characterized by Mesozoic rocks . The location is in the hollow of a right side tributary of the Affelsbach in the area of the Upper Muschelkalks .
geology
To the east of the village, the shell limestone is covered by the layers of the Lower Keuper . The entire profile of the geology typical of Eisenach is exposed in the quarry southwest of the town. It ranges from the white Lingula dolomite of the Middle Muschelkalk to the trochitic limestone and the clay-marl dolomite of the Upper Muschelkalk to the brownish sandstones of the Lower Keuper.
vegetation
The potential natural vegetation that would appear without human intervention is a woodruff beech forest . However, most of the area is used for arable farming. Wheat cultivation is widespread on the clay soils above shell limestone . Pasture land and deciduous forest are found on the clayey soils above the Lower Keuper. The common beech dominates in the Messbüsch, a small wood east of the village .
Farm type
The location is characterized by the typical corner courtyards and side houses of the Trier type, the so-called Trier Einhaus .
history

"Porcionem nostram de villa Hisnanca, Hisnanca in pago Bedinse" (Our part of the Villa Hisnanca, Hisnanca in the district of Bitburg) (Wampach I 2 No. 47). With these words Godoin and his son Helmerich donated their goods in Eisenach to the Echternach Abbey , as the oldest original document from Echternach from the year 762 attests.
In another deed of donation from 835, Eisenach is then referred to as Hissenacha .
In addition to the Echternach Abbey, the Trier cathedral chapter also owned agricultural land in the district, which was sold to France after the secularization at the beginning of the 19th century. The agricultural character of the place has been preserved to this day, the population has changed little in the past two centuries. Up until November 7, 1970, Eisenach belonged to the Trier-Saarburg district and was incorporated into the Bitburg-Prüm district that was newly formed on the same date.

coat of arms
Blazon : "In silver a curled red tip , inside a six-pointed golden star over a golden bar in the shield base , on the right a red hingediscfibula with a red-silver border in the form of a cube , inside a golden disc in a silver-red border, on the left a cut red one (Greek) cross . " | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The hinge disc brooch from the early Middle Ages was found in Eisenach and was included in the coat of arms as a symbol. A stone-carved portrait of a nun with a coat of arms on a farm gable wall, which resulted in the symbols of a star and a beam, points to the former Echternach Clarisse monastery. Until 1803 Eisenach belonged to the Trier electoral state for over five hundred years , symbolized by the red electoral cross. |
