Sevenig is located in the Eifel 3 km from the Luxembourg border near Preischeid . The addition "in New Castle" is used to distinguish from the 10 km further north on the border triangle of Germany- Luxembourg - Belgium situated Sevenig (Our) .

history

The first written mention of the place took place in 1310 as Scheninich . In 1466 the place appears as Sevenich , in the 17th century as Zevenich in the literature. In 1615 there were four stock estates in Sevenig that belonged to the Karlshausen dairy. Until the annexation by French revolutionary troops in 1794/95, Sevenig was part of the manor of Vianden. In 1815, Sevenig was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French , the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

On January 1, 1971, the community received the name “bei Neuerburg”.
