coat of arms
Blazon : "Under gold over red by pinnacle cut divided shield head, divided from silver over blue, above a left-turned black reversible plow, below a three-pronged golden crown." | |
Founding of the coat of arms: Uppershausen belonged to the sovereignty of the Neuerburg rulership until the end of the feudal period and to the county of Vianden. The colors red and silver illustrate this affiliation. The four full and two half pinnacles refer to the town's multi-storey houses. The reversible plow in the heart bar symbolizes the clearing and cultivation work on our undulating ridge in the Islek. In the (sky) blue of the base of the shield and in the depiction of the Marian crown, reference is made to a religious moment: Adoration of the Virgin Mary and dedication of the chapel to Our Lady = village patroness. |
