Hommerdingen is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of southern Eifel .
history
The location index of the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier lists a Roman settlement north of Hommerdingen, which is not localized, however.
The place was first mentioned in 1317 as Humircingen . Other forms of name are 1392 Hummerdingen , 1501 Hemertingen and 1570 Homerdingen . In 1615 the place belonged to the Nusbaum dairy with a stick property , until the French annexation in 1794 to the county of Vianden . In 1815 he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French again, the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
