Niehl is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Südeifel and is about three kilometers east of Mettendorf .
history
Not far from Niehl, occupied Franconian graves were found with additions, including two swords and an iron saber. Until the French annexation in 1794/95, the place belonged to the county of Vianden in the Duchy of Luxembourg . In 1815 he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . In 1848 five houses in which 53 people lived were registered. After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French , the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
