Scheitkorb is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of southern Eifel .

Geographical location

Scheitkorb is located in the Südeifel Nature Park between the communities of Rodershausen and Karlshausen .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1480 as Schytenkorff . It was administered by the neighboring Karlshausen dairy and thus belonged to the Luxembourg county of Vianden .

With the annexation of the Austrian Netherlands , to which Luxembourg and thus Scheitkorb belonged, by French revolutionary troops , the place belonged to the French Forests Department from 1795 to 1814 . In 1815 he was at the Congress of Vienna the Kingdom of Prussia assigned and was from 1816 to the mayor Koxhausen managed.

In 1857 the place received its own chapel, allegedly as a result of a lottery win by a citizen of the Scheitenkorber who is said to have praised the foundation of such a chapel in this case.

After the First World War , the area belonged to the French part of the Allied occupation of the Rhineland . After the Second World War , Keppeshausen became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone .
