Affler is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of southern Eifel .

geography

Affler is located in the South Eifel nature park south of Dasburg above the Our, not far from the border with Luxembourg . Affler also includes the Auf den Pülen and Kohnenhof residential areas .

history

Affler is probably of older origin and, along with Überisenbach, was part of the Daleiden dairy farm belonging to the Luxembourg rulership of Dasburg .

In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . Under French administration , the area belonged to the canton of Clervaux in the Diekirch arrondissement , which was part of the forests department . Affler was administered by the Mairie Dasburg .

Due to the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, Affler came to the mayor's office in Karlshausen in the Bitburg district , which was assigned to the Trier administrative district .

After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French , the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
