Hüttingen bei Lahr is a municipality in the Eifel in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of southern Eifel .
geography
The community is located in the South Eifel Nature Park . The St. Antoniushof residential area also belongs to Hüttingen .
history
The first settlement of the area can be documented as far back as the younger Stone Age. There are numerous remains of finds, including traces of settlement, from the Roman era. Other extensive finds come from the Franconian period . Hüttingen was first mentioned in 1136 as Hundingen , other forms of name were Huttyngen in 1539 , Huttingen in 1570 and Hettingen in 1762 .
The place belonged to the County of Vianden in the Duchy of Luxembourg until the end of the 18th century .
After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . From 1795 to 1814 the place belonged to the canton Vianden in the department of forests .
In 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . 1816 thus came the community Hüttingen to Bitburg in Trier in the Grand Duchy of the Lower Rhine , which in 1822 Rheinprovinz opened. Hüttingen was administered by the mayor of Nusbaum .
After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French , the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

Municipal council
The council in Hüttingen consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Attractions
- The chapel in Hüttingen was built in 1654 and was rebuilt in 1728. It is dedicated to St. Antonius .
- The oven and iron museum in Hüttingen shows, among other things, over 100 different cast iron ovens.
