Weidingen Mayor's Office

The mayor Weidingen was one of 42 original Prussian mayors , the 1816 newly formed in the Bitburg in Trier divided administratively. From 1822 on, the administrative district of Trier, including the mayor's office in Weidingen, belonged to the newly formed Rhine province that year . Six municipalities were under the administration of the mayor's office . The administrative seat was in today's local community Weidingen in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Municipalities and associated localities

The following communities belonged to the mayor's office of Weidingen (as of 1843):

• Altscheid (106 inhabitants)
• Berkoth (69) with the hamlets of Hausmannsdell (13) and Heinischseifen (17)
• Burscheid (27)
• Niederweidingen (46) with the Rodenhof (4)
• Uppershausen (50) with the Terresseifen homestead (10)
• Weidingen (Oberweidingen; 80) with the farms Itzfeld (12) and Spiegeldell (9) as well as the Neumühle (11)

A total of 483 people lived in 53 houses in the mayor's district. All residents were Catholic. There were two churches, a chapel and a school (as of 1843).

Before 1794, all localities in the administrative district of the mayor's office belonged to the Duchy of Luxembourg ( Quartier Vianden ), Altscheid to the County of Vianden , the other places to the lordship of Neuerburg . Weidingen was the main place of a dairy farm . In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . Under French administration , the area belonged to the canton of Neuerburg , which administratively belonged to the arrondissement of Bitburg in the department of forests .

Due to the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, new administrative districts and districts were formed in 1816 ; on the left bank of the Rhine, the administrative districts of the French Mairies were generally retained for the time being. The mayor's office in Weidingen corresponded to the previous Mairie Weidingen. The mayor's office in Weidingen existed until 1871 and became part of the Baustert mayor's office .

All localities are now administratively part of the Südeifel community in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .
