Sevenig (Our) is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Arzfeld and is located directly to the east of the border triangle between Germany , Belgium and Luxembourg .
geography
The street village is located in a basin of the Irsen east of the Our . It is located in the Islek in the southern Eifel . Sevenig (Our) also includes the Mühle and Wehrbüsch residential areas .
With 49.7%, almost half of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 46.5% are forest (as of 2011).
Sevenig borders Harspelt in the north , Roscheid in the east, Dahnen in the south and Clervaux (Luxembourg) and Burg-Reuland (Belgium) in the west .
history
Until the end of the 18th century, the place belonged to the Dasburg rule in the Duchy of Luxembourg .
In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged at the time, and annexed it in October 1795 . Under French administration , Sevenig belonged to the canton of Arzfeld , which was administratively assigned to the arrondissement of Bitburg in the department of forests .
Due to the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . The place belonged from 1816 to the mayor's office Harspelt in the new district of Prüm in the administrative region of Trier and from 1822 to the end of the Second World War to the Rhine province . After 1936 the community belonged to the Daleiden-Leidenborn office . At the end of the Second World War, large parts of the place were destroyed.
The community received the name component "(Our)" on January 1, 1971.

Municipal council
The municipal council in Sevenig consists of six council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Economy and Infrastructure
Sevenig (Our) is today an agricultural community . Since 1971, when 20 farms were still counted, the agricultural area has decreased from 249 ha to 115 ha (2007), which were managed by three farms.
Sevenig is on Landesstraße 1 from Leidenborn to Dasburg .
